Important elections for a variety of offices are happening on April 6. Make sure you exercise your right to vote. In the race for Wisconsin Court of Appeals, Third District, the contrast between the two candidates is stark. Judge Greg Gill is the only candidate with judicial experience and is endorsed by 87 current or retired judges, 11 county sheriffs, and 10 district attorneys, along with others. He has served nine years on the bench. Rick Cveykus is an attorney from Wausau with no judicial experience and is endorsed by a number of active and retired judges and many county board supervisors. This is a six-year term so make sure you check out their information before you choose. Another race with a big impact on our children is for Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction. Candidate Deborah Kerr is for opening up schools, decentralizing the Department of Public Instruction, and supports school vouchers along with making public schools better. Jill Underly is “100 percent” pro-public school and doesn’t support school vouchers and is supported by the teachers’ unions. There are other races for local government and school boards. Do your research. Our kids’ futures depend on it.
