Join Healthy Lake Winona volunteers for a “Walk-n-Talk” on Monday, June 14, from 5-6:30 p.m. Over the last four years the local nonprofit has taken on a number of projects to help make the lake more appealing for recreation activities such as fishing and swimming. In that vein the group has coordinated efforts with the Minnesota Conservation Corp, biology departments from Saint Mary’s University and Winona State University, and the city of Winona to enact projects to restore or preserve shoreland, remove invasive species, plant native prairies and trees, and treat the persistent milfoil and curly leaf pond vegetation that clogs most of West Lake Winona and some parts of East Lake Winona.
If you want to learn more about these ongoing projects, see them in action, and find out about future efforts please join our team for a 60-90-minute walk along the lake path during our monthly meeting on Monday, June 14, from 5-6:30 p.m. Meet at the bandshell parking lot. We’ll do our best to answer your questions and show you some of the progress we are making. All are welcome. Dress for outdoor weather in June.
