‘Fabric of Winona’ project & storytelling workshop

Project FINE, Winona’s Creative Laureate Sarah Johnson, and the Winona County Historical Society are teaming up to celebrate the diversity of our community. This on-going project will collect stories of cultural threads that create the “Fabric of Winona” from native peoples to Polish ancestry to recent immigrants. The stories will inspire public art installations, first at the History Center, and then expanding to other locations. Interested in helping sponsor this project? Contact Sarah Johnson at thejoylabs@gmail.com.

Storytelling Workshop with Project FINE will be on Tuesday, May 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Winona County History Center. Due to capacity limits please pre-register: Call Katie van Eijl at 507-452-4100 or email KvanEijl@co.winona.mn.us.

All are welcome. The Storytelling Workshop will explore the cultural value of storytelling, crafting a detailed and compelling story, and oral storytelling tips and practice.

All supplies will be provided. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
