The more infectious delta variant is causing COVID cases to rise nationwide, while local infections remain relatively low. There were two new cases in Winona County this past week, seven in Buffalo County, and five in Trempealeau County.
After dropping sharply in May and June, the pace of local vaccinations is stabilizing. Over 1,070 Winona County residents received their first dose of COVID vaccine so far in July, only slightly behind the pace in June, according to Minnesota Department of Health data. Fifty-one percent of Winona County’s population is fully vaccinated. Fifty-two percent of Trempealeau County residents are fully vaccinated, and 48 percent are in Buffalo County.
