7:00 am 14th Annual Midwest Value Added Agriculture Confer
LaCrosse, WI: The Midwest Value Added Agriculture Conference (MVAAC) will be holding its 14th Annual Conference on December 12th and 13th at the LaCrosse Center in LaCrosse, WI. The event is being presented by River Country Resource, Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) and Wisconsin Farmerís Union. Keynote presentations will be offered by Laura Jackson, author of "The Farm as Natural Habitat: Reconnecting Food Systems with Ecosystems," and Professor of Biology at the University of Northern Iowa; Francis Thicke of Radiance Dairy in Fairfield, Iowa and author of "A New Vision for Iowa Food and Agriculture: Sustainable Agriculture for the 21st Century;" and John Ikerd, Professor Emeritus of Agricultural & Applied Economics, University of Missouri Columbia and author of "Small Farms are Real Farms: Sustaining People Through Agriculture" and "Sustainable Capitalism: A Matter of Common Sense." The conference will also feature a dinner banquet, presentation and book signing with famed Wisconsin author and entertainer Michael Perry on Wednesday, December 12th. The food for the dinner banquet will be sourced from local farms and all proceeds will be used for farmer education programs in West Central Wisconsin. 9:00 am Annual COOKIES BY THE BOX sale at Wesley United Me
Cookies by the Box" will be featured at the annual Christmas Cookie and Bake Sale held by the Wesley United Methodist Church on the corner of Main St and Broadway in Winona. The sale will take place in Guild Hall on Saturday, December 15th starting at 9:00 A.M. until sold out. There will also be other delicious baked goods for sale along with fair trade coffee, cocoa and chocolate candy.


9:00 am Toys for Tots Christmas Toy Store
All parents who are in need of some help in providing a Christmas gift for your child are encouraged to attend. This is a free distribution. All we ask is that you provide us with the name and age of your child(ren) along with some kind of identification like a social security card, medical card or report card. Please bring identification for yourself also. New toys are put out evenly throughout the distribution, so donít feel that you need to come early to get the best deal. For early people, numbers will start to be given out at 8:00am and they will have an approximate shopping time for you. You are free to leave and come back then.

$15 Adults, $12 Seniors & Students Vanessa Trouble has been singing and producing shows with numerous artists for over a decade. Residing in New York City she has honed her vocal and performance skills all over the country and abroad, fronting various jazz ensembles in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Atlanta, New Orleans, London, Paris, Ireland, Norway and Asia. Vanessa attended Saint Mary's University, but graduated from Carleton College before making her way to the New York City jazz scene. Vanessa performs constantly in New York, including standing engagements at Pierreís in Bridgehampton, NY, and at Opia Lounge in Manhattan. Past engagements have included such New York area jazz showcases as Tavern on the Green, The Bubble Lounge, The Screening Room, Cafť Deville, Torch, The Grand Havana Room, Cibar, Metronome, and The Mansfield Hotel "M" Bar. This intimate evening will feature Vanessa singing holiday songs with a jazz beat, backed up by some of the region's best musicians. She promises her Holiday-themed recording will be available for your gift giving needs too.
