For the first time in their history, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the place of the live bowling event, the agency is putting on a month-long virtual event called Big Night In throughout the month of July. Big Night In is presented by Mayo Clinic Health System.
The cancellation of the signature Bowl for Kids’ Sake event, which represents a significant portion of the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ annual budget, has the potential to disrupt services to the youth served by the program. The agency finds itself in an urgent situation that organizers hope can be remedied by the Big Night In campaign.
Similar to Bowl for Kids’ Sake, participants form a team of four to six people and when they reach their fundraising goal at any point in July, the team will receive a bag of goodies and get to choose a creative way to celebrate with their team. Creative “night in” activities include virtual bowling with BBBS, a dinner party with their team, and many more.
In addition, every single person who has donated to the Big Night In campaign (previously the Bowl for Kids’ Sake campaign) will be entered to win a gift card. Top fundraisers will win a $100 gift certificate, the most creative night in will win a $50 gift certificate and the highest virtual bowling scores will win a $25 gift certificate.
If you would like to become a fundraiser, join a team, or donate you may do so online during the entire month of July at https://give.classy.org/big-night-in. All proceeds will support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region and its mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Big Night In will be held throughout the entire month of July online.
