In recent weeks the Winona Rotary Club has considered options for Ride The Ridges given the impacts of the coronavirus. The bicycle ride faces a situation like thousands of other events across the state and nation. Through a series of surveys, the club asked riders, volunteers, and sponsors for their perspectives and suggestions. Hundreds of responses were received.
Riders were overwhelmingly in favor of participating in RTR 2020. Volunteers and sponsors, while expressing strong support, shared reservations about hosting a ride in the midst of many uncertainties. The health and safety of all participants are the club’s primary concerns.
The club has decided to cancel RTR 2020 and immediately began planning for RTR 2021, which will be held on September 18, 2021. The goal is to return with the best ride possible. Information will be available through the RTR website www.RideTheRidgesbike and on social media via Facebook and Instagram.
Winona Rotary recognizes and thanks all community sponsors and riders who have made Ride The Ridges the club’s primary fundraiser. The annual event supports Rotary’s charitable projects, including literacy initiatives, local food programs, and Feed My Starving Children.
